The Forum

The Steering Group

Beckton Community Forum is one of ten Community Forums in Newham that were set up as part of the modernisation of local government. Rather than being a fixed body, the Forum is a collection of events and activities organised by the Community Forum Steering Group. The Beckton Community Forum aims to:

  • provide opportunities for local people who live and work in their respective areas to have their say on issues of concern.
  • provide feedback on the performance of local area strategies
  • provide an important means for the council to listen, engage and respond to its communities

Beckton Community Forum is the means by which local residents and organisations can express their views on priorities for the local area, influence decision-makers, set local area priorities and provide feedback of delivery to those priorities. The Forum also provides input and comment on local regeneration proposals and elects a representative to the borough-wide Local Strategic Partnership.
